1. Introduction

“Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.”
This quote is the basic theme of “Himalayan English School” which was established in 2012 in Ghansali (District Tehri Garhwal), UTTARAKHAND.
In order to serve the society of this remote rural part of Himalayan region, the school is committed to improve the socio-economic conditions of the society through providing value based education to younger generation. The school will full fill the basic needs of children for academic education in English medium with all round development of their personality.

4. Learning policy through ICT/ Digital Media

We believe that the generation is passing through a fast dynamic and cutting edge world. The digital technology plays a key role in developing creative mind of youngsters. With this idea the school makes a policy to bring technology near to students and make them user friendly through latest digital media gadgets.m

5. Organization

The School is being managed by Darshnanand Nautiyal Foundation for Rural Development (DNFRD) by forming an Academic Board of the School which will be the apex body to formulate the policy under which the whole
organization will function. The members of board are highly experienced and mature people with dedication towards the quality education and motivating learning skills among students. The Principal of school will be the main person to execute decisions of Academic Board. The teaching faculty will follow all new ways and methods of learning under the guidelines of Principal. The school will follow the co–education system.

6. Accreditation of School

The Himalayan English School Ghansali is accredited by-

a) Class 1 to 8 by Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Tehri Garhwal
b) Class 9 and 10 by Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ram Nagar in English medium equivalent to CBSE.
c) Class 11 and 12 by Uttarakhand Board  of School Education Ram Nagar in English medium equivalent to CBSE.

7. Infrastructure

We have an excellent building structure in a calm and quite atmosphere with playground. The school building has spacious class rooms and proper sitting arrangements for each student. The school building is surrounded with natural greenery. We provide a very clean, green and peaceful atmosphere for students.
The school campus has a big outdoor field for students with children playing Equipments. We have a concrete playground for Volleyball and badminton courts.

8. Facilities available

1. Fully equipped class room – Each class room in the school has sufficient natural light, proper ventilation with the availability of electricity and fan. These class rooms have green board, display boards and proper furniture for students and teacher & Teaching through Projectors.
2. School campus covered by CCTV camera – The entire school campus is covered by CCTV camera to provide safety and security to students. School has provided filtered water facility for students.
3. Biometrics attendance system – The school has biometric attendance system for keeping record of attendance.
4. Safe drinking water – School has provided filtered water facility for students. The school keeps a regular check on the water quality.
5. Clean Toilets – The school has enough number of toilets which are maintained very neat and clean. Separate toilet facilities are available for boys and girls.
6. Science Lab – The school has good quality Science Lab which has complete infrastructure of Science Lab having Physics, Chemistry and Biology streams.
7. Computer Lab – The School maintains excellent computer lab which has enough number of computers to provide latest computer education to students.
8. ATL Lab – The School  maintains an ATL lab in which students get opportunity to work on small electronic, IOT & robotics projects.
9. Good Quality Library – The School equipped with projector maintains a good number of books magazines and knowledge enhancing material to create the interest of students in reading books.

10. Multipurpose Hall – The School has one big multipurpose hall for organizing different events.
11. Outdoor field, Court & playing equipments – The school has big field area, cemented court for Volley Ball/Badminton, and many playing equipments for nursery student like- Swing, Slide and Monkey bar etc.
12. Indoor games equipments – The school has keeps an arrangement for indoor games like – Carom, Chess, Table Tennis etc. for students.
13. Transportation Facility – The School has owned a school bus as a transport facility for students who live up to 10 Km distances from School location in Ghansali.
14. Music Classes – Music plays an important part in human life. To identify the child’s interest in Music our school has made special arrangements to provide basic music instrument playing lessons to students. Students learn basic music instruments- like Harmonium, Tabla, etc. 

15. Boarding and lodging facilities – School would help outstation students by making arrangements for boarding and lodging facility. Depending upon number of such student school management will take needful steps.
16. More Facilities in Future – School Management will keep on adding many facilities for students in coming future for their all round development. School organizes Counselling, Free Medical Camp, motivational seminar etc.

9. Teaching Staff -

The school is proud to have a team of highly qualified and experienced teaching staff. The teaching staff put their best efforts to make the subject interesting. The school always encourage activities for child learning in order to explore students’ latent abilities and sharpen their personalities.

Literary Activity – Recitation in English, Hindi, Debate, Speech, Extempore, Creative writing and Story-telling, Elocution, Declamation, Group Discussion.
Arts Activity – Drawing, Painting, Calligraphy, Music, Craft and Needle work.
Cultural Activity – Drama, Mono-acting, Dances (Folk & classical) and fancy dress.
Exhibition Activity – Arts, Science, Craft and floral decoration.
Science Activity– Making Science Models, Experiments, projects.
Library Activity – Book reading, Book Mark making, Book cover etc. 

 

11. Co - curricular activities

Students are trained with an objective to inculcate a sense of responsibility, loyalty, team work and healthy competition feeling to develop positive attitude in their mind. They are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as–Inter House, Intra–house and inter school competitions.

12. Vocational studies

School understands that academic education becomes more powerful tool when student is developed along with a particular skill for which he/she bears a natural inclination. Vocational studies help many students to choose career. The students will be given an exposure to vocational studies during their academic studies. Presently we have complete infrastructure for following trades:

14. Scope of Studies

Nursery, L.K.G. & U.K.G.
The students will study – Basic knowledge of alphabets in English & Hindi, Concept of number, Rhymes, Communication, General Knowledge & basic school etiquette.
Primary Section – Class I to Class V
The students will study – English, Maths, Hindi, Science, Social Studies, Moral Science, P.T., Self Development, Environmental Studies and Computer.
Jr. Section – Class VI to Class VIII
The students will study – English, Maths, Hindi, Science, Social Studies, Moral Science, P.T., Self Development, Environmental Studies and Computer.
High School – Class IX and X
The students will study – English, Maths, Hindi, Science, Social Studies, Moral Science, Self Development, Environmental Studies and Computer and Vocational Training.

Higher Secondary – Class XI and XII 

The students will study – In two different groups

PCM- Hindi, English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

PCB- Hindi, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology

 

15. Home work

School believes that we should make learning a very interesting subject for students and wants to ensure that “Home Work” should not be burden for them rather they should feel joy in doing it. School always expect from Parents to provide an honest feedback about student’s routine activities in his/her home to school.

16. Discipline

We believe that –

  • Students need and like to work in well ordered atmosphere.
  • It is most important that they should know what they are allowed to do and what is expected of them.
  • It is also important that they should know that there are people in the school who will take time to listen to their problems and who want to help them.
  • It is also important that students should understand that they have a responsibility to maintain the high standards that are set by school.
  • The school expects high standards of behavior from students.

17. Attendance –

  • We feel that students can’t make a good progress at school unless they have a high attendance record.
  • All absences must be verified by a letter from parents.
  • To encourage good attendance we will present full attendance certificates in assembly each term and will give special prize on annual day.
  • A target of 95% attendance is set for students to allow genuine sickness.
  • All students reaching this target will be rewarded.
  • We seek support from parents to achieve these targets so that their wards can be given best possible education.
  • If the student remains absent for more than a week without any information, his/her name will be removed from the school rolls. Re-admission will be done after the payment of re-admission fee only.

19. Regular feed back to parents

After every test there will be a Parent – Teacher meeting where the performance
of student will be communicated to parents on one to one case basis.

20. School Uniform

All students are expected to come to school in specified uniform only (for summers, winters & house uniform).

The School will not allow any student who comes without uniform.

The parents should ensure that wards must come to school in neat and clean and well pressed clothes. Shoes must be polished every day. Parents should take a note that we are developing their ward with good habits.

21. Admission Procedure –

Application for admission should be filled up in prescribed form (attached in the prospectus) available at the school office at the cost of Rs. 200. All conditions mentioned in the prospectus and application forms are to be strictly followed.

  •  Incomplete forms will not be considered.
  • There will be written/oral test for admission.
  • The students who qualify the written exam will be called for interview.
  • The final list of students will be declared after interview.
  • The selected students have to deposit fees immediately.
  • The School will not allow any student who comes without uniform.
  • The parents should ensure that wards must come to school in neat and clean and well pressed clothes. Shoes must be polished every day.
  • Parents should take a note that we are developing their ward with good habits. 

22. Admission Rules –

  •  Filling up of admission form, and appearing in entrance test, and attending interview do not guarantee admission in school.
  •  The admission will be purely at the discretion of school authorities.
  • Parents whose children are already studying in school can’t claim admission for their younger wards as matter of right.
  • Parents and child must be present at the time of interview with copies of relevant documents.
  • Selection will be automatically cancelled if fee is not deposited on last date stipulated by the school.

24. Admission Test –

Admission test shall be conducted in following subjects :
Written test in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.
The duration of Test will be 1.5 Hours.

25. Documents to be procured for admission

  • Three passport size photographs.
  • Report card/ Marks Sheet last passed out class of previous school.
  • Address proof of parents.
  • Transfer Certificate from school last attended.
  • Conduct Certificate from school last attended.

26. With-drawls/ Transfer Certificate

The parents, who desire to withdraw their wards from the school must apply in writing one month advance.

They should fill in the application form specified for Transfer Certificate available in the office.

Duly filled TC form should be submitted in the office along with Rs. 100 fees for Transfer Certificate.

27. Management Right

School Management reserves the right to amend the rules & regulations or points specified in this prospectus according to their terms of working. 

28. Himalayan English School welcomes students

29. Career Counselling

For students of class IX on wards career  counselling is important for success in life.The school management organizes  meetings and workshops with resource persons and successful people of national and inter-national importance.
